SIMULTANEOUS INTERPRETING FOR ONLINE CONFERENCES
Remote simultaneous interpretation, also known as RSI, involves interpreting from a location different from where the conference is taking place. For instance, I have simultaneously translated from English into Italian for an international conference in Rome.
To establish an ideal environment for simultaneous interpreters, they must have access to a live video feed from the location of the event, the presence of an online booth, available in many modern videoconference programs, as well as live technical support capable of promptly solving any issues communicated by the conference interpreter during the event.
Last but not least, online interpreters need a reliable internet connection (with a backup in case of any issues) and high-quality audio equipment to ensure clear communication and safeguard their own ear health.
