INTERPRETATION
CONSECUTIVE INTERPRETATION
I had the privilege of serving as the interpreter for Atlético de Madrid’s coach, Diego Simeone, and player Mario Hermoso during a press conference ahead of their Champions League match against Lazio. One of the challenges was navigating the live setting: handling the presence of cameras and microphones while translating questions and answers between the journalists and the interviewees.
REMOTE INTERPRETATION
I provided simultaneous interpretation from English to Italian during the international congress of Tomatis, a company specializing in a natural neurosensory stimulation program, held in Rome. Thanks to online tools that enable remote interpreting, I was able to participate without needing to travel from Madrid.
SIMULTANEOUS INTERPRETATION
In all the international conferences I’ve attended as an interpreter, collaboration with colleagues has been essential. Often, we’ve been required to translate not only from Spanish, French, or English into Italian, but also from Italian into Spanish, allowing others to listen to our translation and render it into their respective languages. This technique is known as ‘relay interpreting.’
LIAISON INTERPRETATION
On many occasions, such as the pre-match meal between Atlético de Madrid and Lazio with President Enrique Cerezo, as shown in the photo, having a conference interpreter is essential, even in informal settings. It’s important to navigate among the different diners, facilitating smooth communication.
In other cases, bilateral interpreting may be more formal and involve two or more people, such as at a notary’s office for managing a donation, a change of ownership, or similar matters, or during a business meeting.
